This year world book day falls on 7th March and I have seen all sorts of adorable costumes ranging from Little Red Riding Hood to Maisie Mouse. This year I decided to embrace my inner child and dressed up according to one of my favourite children’s book ‘Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?’ As you can see, it was an improvised costume with my hair acting as my ears.

Our little binis looked adorable in their little costumes bringing a smile to everyone’s faces and making The Happy Song even more relatable. Even the adults joined in on the dressing up!

Reading, much like music, is so important from the start. It develops their language skills as it exposes them to a different style of language different to your own teaching them words which may not be used in their daily lives. When reading to your child do you change your voice whenever a character is speaking? If so, you are helping the development of your child’s imagination. And what about making splish splash! sounds when a character jumps into a puddle? You’re helping them associate with the world around them. Don’t worry if you don’t! You’re helping plenty simply by reading to them as a captivating story can help develop your child’s attention.

This World Book Day weekend why don’t you head down to your local library and read a book with your child, here are a few suggestions:
